Today, I find myself sitting alone on the sofa, in a rather somber mood. This is not a day for opening gifts or celebrating. Instead, it is a day I have been dreading, for I have a grievous announcement to make, one that will surely impact all of us in the house.

Just a few days ago, we received devastating news. A brilliant scholarship student, a shining light named Makotso from South Africa, has passed away. This news has left her family completely devastated. I want to respect their privacy during this difficult time, but her grandmother has given me permission to share this heartbreaking news with you all.

I intentionally waited until today to make this announcement, as it is the day of her funeral. I want us all to think of Makotso and her family, especially her grandmother, whom she was so close to. As a tribute to her incredible talent, I have brought one of the dresses she made for me to show all of you. The level of craftsmanship and attention to detail in her work is extraordinary. It is hard to believe that she had never sewn anything before joining Villiotti, but by the end of her first year, her talent was already shining through.

It is a tragic loss, and we are still in shock. Philip and I had already planned to attend her final catwalk show in November. We had such high hopes for her future. Makotso had dreams of helping others, and we were determined to support her. In a clip that Philip has shared, Makotso spoke about her desire to make a difference and how she wanted to support more people once she achieved success herself. It is clear that she had a bright future ahead of her.
