We are facing massive problems, but it is not because of Islam. The real issue lies in the lack of teachers. Ten percent of school hours are being missed. Do you know what that means? Children attend school for twelve years, and ten percent of that time is wasted. I never know if they have progressed enough in school to understand the implications. These are the official numbers, and substitute hours are not even included in them. Substitute hours are when teachers stand in front of classes teaching subjects they are unfamiliar with. We claim we do not have the money to hire more teachers, but children are our most valuable resource. Yet, we do not have the funds to educate them properly. Our education system has produced 7 million illiterates. Nearly ten percent of the population who have attended school for ten years cannot read or write.

The Healthcare Dilemma

We also have a shortage of nurses and caregivers. Talk to those working in these professions, and you will be horrified by their stories. Everything is viewed from a business perspective, and when things do not run smoothly, they get privatized. Privatization is seen as the ultimate solution in capitalism. Investors and consultants come in, making decisions based on profit rather than care for patients or residents.

The Funding Conundrum

We always claim there is no money available to address pressing societal issues. However, overnight we managed to find 45 billion euros to bail out a bank. Yet, when it comes to solving urgent problems within society, suddenly there is no funding available. We could easily allocate funds towards addressing refugee crises and other challenges if we were willing to make the investment.

The Wealth Disparity

The German population inherits 250 billion euros annually. If each person were to contribute just 10% of their inheritance, we would have an additional 25 billion euros each year at our disposal. Furthermore, Germans hold 5 trillion euros in liquid assets excluding real estate. If everyone were to give up just five percent of their wealth, imagine the impact it could have on addressing societal issues.

In conclusion, it is clear that there are solutions available to tackle the various challenges we face as a society. It is a matter of prioritizing where we allocate our resources and being willing to make the necessary investments for a better future for all.
