This time, our adventure takes a stylish twist as we delve into a luxurious clothing store complete with expensive tailors. The Last House Standing

Our journey begins in the heart of Fukushima, where we spent the night in a former neighborhood. It's quite astonishing; this lone house stands tall amidst the wreckage. The neighborhood that once was is now nothing but a memory. Houses have vanished, and yet, the streetlights remain steadfast. In fact, they've even upgraded to energy-efficient LED lights. Technology never ceases to amaze.

Though the houses have faded into history, Google Earth still preserves the memory of this neighborhood. Over the past few years, many residential buildings met their end and got replaced by a bustling construction zone. The remaining houses are in surprisingly good shape, awaiting a future where they'll be inhabited once again. So, no private house exploration for us this time; we opt for Plan B.

Discovering Hidden Treasures

Our Plan B takes us to another intriguing location from my ever-growing list of spots to check out. We find ourselves inside a clothing store. The first room we enter appears to have been a place for repairs and custom tailoring. We spot older tools scattered about, a testament to the bygone era when this store was flourishing with life.

As we've seen in previous episodes, many businesses in Fukushima have been deeply affected by the disaster. These eerie time capsules, like this store, remind us of the tragic events of the past. Amidst the relics, we stumble upon what seems to be customized clothes with price tags dating back to 2010 – 4000 Yen for a unique piece of history.

As we explore further, we are taken aback by what we find – an impeccably preserved tailor store. This is a significant deviation from our previous discovery of a clothing store that catered to a wide range of customers. Here, the focus is clearly on business and formal attire, a testimony to the area's diverse fashion culture.

A Glimpse into the Past

With the store's extensive collection of buttons, textiles, and tailored clothing, it's evident that this was a place of craftsmanship. The prices back in the day, as seen on the tags, were steep, often exceeding $500 for these finely tailored pieces. It's increasingly rare to stumble upon such well-preserved stores like this, given that most of the places we've explored have been emptied and left to decay.

Despite the remarkable condition of these items, it's disheartening to think that everything we see here will soon be discarded. Some items may have been damaged during the earthquake that shattered the store's windows, potentially allowing radioactive particles to infiltrate. It's a stark reminder of the area's tumultuous past.

Frozen in Time

As we examine the contents of this frozen-in-time store, we're left in awe of what Fukushima once was. The neatly arranged leather shoes from Italy, a variety of imported tailors, and quality jackets take us back to an era of style and elegance. It's almost as if we've stepped into a time capsule, and yet, all of this will soon be gone, just like the other places we've explored.

Our journey doesn't end here; we leave this place to discover the next abandoned building. While driving around, we come across a laundry, one of many that were left in a hurry. It's a poignant reminder of the haste and chaos that gripped this area during the disaster.
