A Baffling Discovery

In early May, the lifeless body of Mahira, a student at Sumatera Utara University, was found in her home located in the Rivera Complex of Medan Amplas District, Medan City. The circumstances surrounding her death raised suspicions among her family members. When Mahira's house was discovered, it was locked from the outside, leading her family to believe that foul play was involved. To their surprise, Mahira's adoptive father insisted on a swift burial and vehemently opposed any autopsy being performed on her body.

A Life Lived Alone

Mahira lived alone in her residence after her adoptive mother passed away in 2020. Since childhood, she had been raised by a couple who were distant relatives. However, her adoptive parents eventually divorced, prompting Mahira to choose to live with her adoptive mother. It was during her second semester that we called the village head and her adoptive father was informed by the family. He came and opened the door with a hammer because it wasn't like what I heard before. Her stepmother said she opened it differently. She said she unlocked it with a key and then used a hammer to break the padlock on the outside. Logically speaking, if we think about it, the padlock should have been on the inside. But in this case, it was on the outside. When the iron door was opened, the wooden door remained closed. It could have been opened, but it wasn't. After that, the electricity went out and it was dark. I stumbled and fell because of the darkness. Her adoptive father then said, "Oh no, Ira slipped."

Unraveling the Mystery
