A Risk Worth Taking

Today was a day of anticipation and excitement as I eagerly awaited the arrival of my very first Thread Up Active Roblox box. I had heard mixed reviews about this online thrift store, with some people striking gold and others left disappointed. But I couldn't resist the urge to try it out for myself. So, I took the plunge and ordered a box, even though it was only available in the size extra small. I wanted to see what treasures awaited me.

Tales of Triumph and Tragedy

Before my box arrived, I had seen videos of people unboxing their Thread Up Active Roblox treasures. Some were lucky enough to find a plethora of high-end brands like Lululemon and Sweaty Betty, while others were left with less desirable options. My friend Veronica from Veronica Mica recently unboxed a box filled with Lululemon goodies, so naturally, I had high hopes. You can check out her video for some serious inspiration. But let me warn you, such amazing finds are not the norm.

The Price of Curiosity

To get my hands on this box of mystery, I had to shell out $59.99, plus shipping and taxes. The total came to $68.12 for 15 items. But here's the kicker: the card I used for payment had a cash back offer for Thread Up purchases, up to 10%. So, in the end, I'll only be paying $61.31 for this box. That's just $4.09 per item! Sounds like a steal, right? Well, let's find out if it's worth it.

The Unveiling

When the box finally arrived, I couldn't contain my excitement. I tore open the package and was hit with a funky smell. It smelled like cigarette smoke, but I quickly realized it was just the box itself. Phew! As I delved deeper into the box, I discovered that it was meticulously packaged, much better than their shoe boxes, I must say.

One by one, I pulled out the items, hoping to find some of my favorite brands like Blue Lemon, Sweaty Betty, and Aloe Yoga. But alas, luck was not on my side. Instead, I found a tie-dye pair of leggings from RBX, a pinkish-orangish-red pair of leggings from Z by Zella, and a pair of Nike sweatpants in a lovely blue color. Not exactly what I was hoping for, but not bad either.

As I continued to unearth the items, I stumbled upon a pair of 90 degrees by reflex leggings with a cute jogger cuff. They had a unique print that caught my eye. And then, there it was, a Gap Fit short-sleeve workout t-shirt with the word "breathe" emblazoned on it. Simple and effective.

The next stack of items didn't blow me away either, but I did find a gray athletic tank top from Game and some Under Armour pieces. One of the Under Armour shirts had glitter on it, which added a touch of glam to my workout attire. I also discovered a brand I had been wanting to try, Offline by Arie. The purple color and drawstring detail made them stand out from the rest.

As I reached the end of the box, I realized that I hadn't found a single item from the brands I had hoped for. There was no Lululemon in sight. It was a bit of a letdown, but I had prepared myself for this possibility. This box seemed to be filled with more common brands, and that's just the luck of the draw.

In the end, I received a total of 15 items, which was exactly what I paid for. While I didn't find any of my dream brands, I did find some decent pieces that I can list and hopefully make my money back. And hey, if there's anything in this box that catches your eye, let me know! I'll be happy to list it for you.

The Verdict

So, was it worth it? It's hard to say. While I didn't strike gold like Veronica, I didn't come away empty-handed either. The thrill of unboxing and the possibility of finding hidden gems is what makes Thread Up Active Roblox so enticing. It's a gamble, but sometimes taking a risk is half the fun.

I can't promise that I'll purchase another box in the future, but I won't rule it out either. Who knows, maybe next time I'll uncover the holy grail of activewear. Until then, I'll continue to explore the world of online thrifting, embracing both the triumphs and the letdowns. Because in the end, it's all part of the adventure.
