Hello, dear readers from across the globe! It's time for another exciting episode of "Journey to the Chateau." And today, we've decided to take a little break from our endless tryst with kitchen renovation. I mean, don't get me wrong, I'm almost addicted to dust at this point, but even the most passionate love affairs need a breather, right?

Rediscovering the Great Outdoors

As the sun graced us with its presence, I found myself yearning for the outdoors. So, I ventured out with Tony, and as we chatted about sanding walls, he gave me that knowing look and said, "You need a break, mate. Monotonous jobs can only entertain you for so long." Wise words, I must say. And so, we decided to heed Tony's advice and take a step back from the kitchen chaos.

In this rejuvenating pause, a beautiful discovery unfolded. The day was crisp, and as I embarked on a mission to clean up the remnants of Boston ivy, something magical happened.

Windows Beyond Repair and a Grand Solution

I took a look around and realized that we had a serious window situation. Fourteen windows, to be exact, were either gone or severely damaged. I mean, we've all heard of a fixer-upper, but these were more like "might-as-well-replace" cases. So, we've decided to call in Terry from "Escape to the Dream" because, honestly, I doubt if these windows could get any worse.

To protect our charming abode during the spring, we're going to use plastic sheets to cover the non-existent windows. It's not the permanent solution we're aiming for, but it'll do the trick for now. The kitchen and bathroom renovation are our current priorities.

Unveiling a Hidden Gem: A Greenhouse in the Making

With the old windows safely tucked away, I moved on to another thrilling project: cleaning out what would become our very own little greenhouse. The possibilities were endless, and the bird songs made the day even more enchanting. It's a cozy spot with a southern exposure that will soon be transformed into a haven for plant life.

We'll have work tables, shelves, and a controlled atmosphere to nurture our plants. In a few weeks, it will be warm and inviting, a stark contrast to the frigid winds we're experiencing now. And the ivy that once conquered the space? Surprisingly, the branches are still alive, and we're conducting a little experiment to see if they'll spring back to life.

Exciting Planting Plans and A Hidden Door

As we embrace the promise of spring, we're preparing to plant nearly 90 dahlias and exploring the idea of a charming fence to keep Ember, our playful dog, in check. Ember loves to dig and frolic around, but her escapades often involve decapitating the flowers. We can't have that!

One exciting revelation was the discovery of a hidden door, a door that once stood tall and proud. It's like finding a forgotten treasure, and it's got us all thrilled. We've got big plans for it, and it's another piece of history that we get to preserve.

In the courtyard, we're waging a battle against the relentless Boston ivy. It may look romantic, but it's slowly but surely gnawing away at the Chateau. So, wherever it's appropriate, we're letting it flourish, and where it's not, we're saying goodbye. We've also decided to plant new fruit trees, including a beautiful pear tree gifted by our friends.

The Chateau is a canvas of endless possibilities, and every corner holds a new adventure. So, stay tuned for more exciting updates and, of course, our furry friends' antics.
