Introduction: Gratitude and Excitement

First of all, let me just say, WOW! The support and enthusiasm for my last video on the new DLC have been off the charts. With 70,000 views in just two days, you guys are absolutely insane and I am immensely grateful. Thank you! Now, in my last video, we discussed the new destination weapons that came with Lightfall. Today, we're going to dive into Season of Defiance, which was bundled with Lightfall. We'll be exploring the weapons that came along with this content, discussing how to farm them, and determining whether or not they are worth the grind. So, buckle up and let's jump into it!

Farming the Season of Defiance Weapons

With the introduction of this new expansion, Bungie has taken a different approach to acquiring seasonal loot. They have introduced seasonal engrams, known as Defiant Engrams, and a new system with Defiant Keys. The great news is that you have a chance to obtain these rewards by simply participating in any activity in the game. The Defiant Engrams will accumulate for you to claim at the war table in the helm. On the other hand, the Defiant Keys stack up to five in your inventory and can be used to spin for bonus loot in the Season of Defiance Battleground playlist. It's important to note that opening the chest without a key guarantees you a piece of Defiant gear, but using a key increases your chances of obtaining a red border weapon or high stat armor piece along with a guaranteed Defiant Engram. This new system is a game-changer and adds an exciting element to the gameplay. If you want to stock up on as many keys and engrams as possible, there are two methods that work exceptionally well. The first method requires getting the final boss checkpoint for the Shattered Throne dungeon and repeatedly farming the boss with some friends. However, this method requires purchasing another DLC. For those looking for a free method, I personally found farming the first encounter boss in Prophecy to be just as efficient. The boss has minimal health, and reaching the damage phase doesn't take long. You can endlessly farm these encounters until you have five keys stacked up, then go ahead and spend them. Alternatively, you can continue farming to accumulate engrams at the helm. Additionally, Bungie has promised that, like previous seasons, there will be a means to focus loot specifically at the seasonal vendor, making the grind for that perfect red border weapon or god-roll armor much easier in the near future.

Perpetualis: The Auto Rifle Powerhouse

Let's dive into the weapons themselves, starting with Perpetualis. This 600 RPM auto rifle is the only known legendary strand auto in the game. Although the upcoming raid may change this, for now, it's a reliable pick and a weapon I highly recommend maxing out. The base stats are impressive, and the gun feels great. As for the perks, the first column offers "Keep Away" for faster reload speed when not near enemies and "Envious Assassin" for overflowing the magazine when killing enemies with other weapons. In the second column, "Demolitionist" provides grenade energy on kills, "Golden Tricorn" offers a massive boost to bullet damage after ability kills, "Target Lock" increases damage the longer you shoot at an enemy, and "Hatchlings" spawns thrallings on headshot kills. Additionally, the "Noble Deeds" trait allows you to build stacks by assisting enemies, which enhances reload speed and handling as long as the stacks are active. When crafting this weapon, I highly suggest going for "Envious Assassin" in the first column paired with either "Target Lock" or "Hatchlings" in the second column. These perk combinations work exceptionally well when building a strand-based loadout, which adds a unique and highly effective touch to your gameplay. Perpetualis is definitely a standout weapon this season, especially for auto rifle enthusiasts.

Raconteur: The Precision Stasis Bow

Next up is Raconteur, a precision frame stasis bow with a fairly unique perk combo. Being a precision frame, it's essential to focus on draw speed as much as possible to optimize its performance. Currently, this bow is the best Azoths combat bow in the game, mainly because there's only one other option in this season, which is the Defiance bow. Raconteur showcases better perks overall and is craftable, making it the clear choice for bow enthusiasts. In the first column of perks, you have the usual "Archer's Tempo" and a lesser-known perk called "Wellspring." The second column offers "Thresh" paired with "Explosive Head," which guarantees damage and works well with "Shoot Dilute." Additionally, "Headstone" is always a welcome addition to stasis weapons. Raconteur offers a versatile perk pool, making it a worthwhile addition to your arsenal. I highly recommend crafting it and experimenting with different perk combinations to find your preferred playstyle.

Prodigal Return: The Grenade Launcher of Uniqueness

Prepare yourself for the Prodigal Return, a special grenade launcher that brings something new to the table. As the only lightweight frame grenade launcher in the game, it offers perks we haven't seen before in this weapon class. In the first column, you have "Field Prep" for ammo and reload speed, "Lead from Gold" for ammo from gold pickups, and "Envious Assassin," which allows you to load up to three grenades in the magazine. The second column includes "Danger Zone," "Demolitionist," and "Volt Shot." Now, here's the question: Is the Prodigal Return worth using? Well, that depends on your playstyle. If you're a meta slave, it may not be as appealing as the Salvo or Forbearance. However, if you enjoy having fun and experimenting with unique weapons, I would highly suggest giving it a try. Craft it, level it up, and see how it performs. Just imagine the satisfaction of loading three grenades at once and wreaking havoc on your enemies. The Prodigal Return brings a refreshing twist to the gameplay and gives you an opportunity to step away from the meta.

Regnan: The Fusion Rifle Contemplation

Now, let's talk about Regnan, an adaptive frame fusion rifle with a solar element. If you're a fan of fusions and enjoy either Incandescent or Reservoir Burst, this one is for you. In the first column, you have "Lead from Gold" and "Envious Assassin." The second column features the aforementioned traits, "Reservoir" and "Incan." Now, I have to be honest here. As much as I appreciate fusion rifles, they don't quite capture my attention unless they come with the "Chill Clip" perk or have a vorpal weapon roll like Cartesian. However, if you're someone who loves fusion rifles and wants to expand your collection or play around with unique traits, Regnan is worth considering. The combination of "Envious Assassin" and "Reservoir" allows for efficient ad clear, while "Incan" adds a touch of incendiary chaos. So, if you're looking to spice up your fusion rifle game, give Regnan a shot.

Royal Executioner: The Void Fusion Powerhouse

Last but not least, we have Royal Executioner, an adaptive frame fusion rifle with a void element. This craftable fusion rifle is essentially a better version of the highly sought-after Windigo grenade launcher from the previous season. If you missed out on Windigo or want a top-of-the-line heavy grenade launcher, look no further. Royal Executioner rolls with auto loading and explosive light, making it a force to be reckoned with. While grenade launchers may not be the current meta for DPS, having Royal Executioner in your arsenal ensures you're prepared for any future shifts. The choice of perks in the first column includes "Lead from Gold" and "Envious Assassin," while the second column offers "Reservoir" and "Incan." Personally, I would recommend going for a roll with "Tireless Blade" to replenish ammo after every other kill and "Incandescent" for a fiery ad-clear experience. Royal Executioner may not be for everyone, but if you appreciate the power and versatility of fusion rifles, this one is definitely worth crafting.

Closing Thoughts: A Season of Exhilarating Weaponry

In conclusion, the Season of Defiance brings a wide array of weapons, each with its own unique perks and playstyle. While not every weapon may be considered meta, they all offer something special and refreshing. From the powerful and reliable Perpetualis auto rifle to the explosive possibilities of the Prodigal Return grenade launcher, there's an option for every Guardian's taste. So, go forth, farm these weapons, unleash their potential, and let the Season of Defiance be remembered as a season of exhilarating weaponry. Let me know in the comments which weapon you're most excited to wield. For me, it's the crafted version of Perpetualis. Stay tuned for more Lightfall content in the near future, and let's see where we end up by the end of this expansion. Thank you again for your incredible support, and until next time, may RNGesus bless your loot drops and may your gaming adventures be filled with excitement!
