Introduction

Welcome back to Budget with Jazz! In today's video, I'm going to show you how I budgeted the money I made from my side hustle, selling items on Mercari. If you're interested, you can check out my Mercari store in the link below. Now, let's dive into this budgeting adventure!

Getting Started

So, in this video, I made a total of $206 from Mercari. It's not a crazy amount, but every dollar counts, right? I've learned that once you start making over $600, you have to start paying taxes on it. So, for now, I'll focus on budgeting this $206 and saving money for future taxes.

Organizing My Budget

I like to keep things organized, so I have different binders for different budget categories. Let's start with my first binder. It's a mishmash of different things, but let's see what we can do with it.

  • Disney: I'll set aside $5 for my future Disney adventures.
  • P.O. Box: I want to pay for a year's worth of P.O. Box fees, so I'll allocate $5 for that.
  • Household: I'll put $5 towards household expenses.
  • Toiletries: Another $5 for toiletries.
  • Feeding: $5 for my furry friends' food.
  • Fur Babies: A generous $20 for my beloved pets.
  • Gifts: I'll allocate $50 for upcoming birthdays and special occasions.
  • Costco Membership: $55 to cover my Costco membership.

Now, let's see how much we have left.

Tackling Debt

After setting aside money for various expenses, I have $156 left. My focus this month is to tackle debt, so let's see how we can make that happen.

  • Credit Card Payment: I have an $88 balance on my Credit One card, and the minimum payment is $30. I'll pay off the remaining $58 and put $26 towards my savings.

Now, I have $135 left to work with. Let's continue.

Prioritizing Savings

Next, I have a category for getting a month ahead. I'll allocate $20 towards that goal. We're making progress!

Friends and Car Maintenance

Moving on to the Friends binder, I'll skip the vacation category for now. In the car maintenance category, I'll allocate $100 to keep my car running smoothly. I'll also set aside $9 for car tags.

Emergencies and Education

I'll skip the emergency fund for now and allocate $20 for dog emergencies. In the education category, I'll add $5.

Nails, Piercings, and Self-Care

In the Nails category, I'll allocate $5 for a much-needed pedicure. For piercings, I'll set aside $10. Finally, in the self-care category, I'll allocate $5 for waxing.

Final Touches

After going through all the binders, I have $29 left. I'll leave it for now and consider it a zero-based budget. This means I've allocated all my income and expenses, leaving no money unaccounted for.

Conclusion

And there you have it! Budgeting can be fun and easy when you have a clear plan. In this video, I focused on using the money I made from my side hustle to pay off debt and save for future expenses. I'm excited to see progress in my financial journey and hope to inspire you to do the same. Thank you for watching, and I'll catch you in my next video. Have a great day!
