Introduction

In Brasília, a significant development has taken place today that may mark the end of an impasse between the Chamber and the Senate. The National Congress has installed mixed committees that will evaluate and appreciate the provisional measures of interest to the Lula government. Our reporter, Berenice Leite, is here with us live on Jovem Pan to provide all the details. Welcome, Berenice!

The Installation of Mixed Committees

Good evening, Daniel! Good evening to all our listeners. Today, three mixed committees were finally installed after much effort. There was even a concern that there wouldn't be enough members present, so the senators from the government's base had to make some calls to ensure the presence of deputies. These committees will analyze provisional measures related to administrative matters, such as the creation of ministries, as well as measures concerning social programs like Bolsa Família and Minha Casa Minha Vida.

Overcoming Challenges

Before the session began, there was some tension due to a conflicting schedule. The leaders of the Chamber were having a meeting at Arthur Lira's official residence at the same time. However, in the end, everything worked out fine. Senator Randolfe Rodrigues assured us that this issue has been overcome.

"We have successfully installed all three mixed committees for evaluating provisional measures. We have elected presidents and appointed rapporteurs. It's a thing of the past now," he said confidently.

Smooth Progress Expected

The deputies who participated in the leaders' meeting at Arthur Lira's residence denied any intention of boycotting the process. Senator Otto Alencar also expressed his confidence in Arthur Lira's commitment to ensuring smooth progress in evaluating the Lula government's provisional measures.

Senator Eduardo Braga further eased tensions by stating that although one mixed committee still lacks a rapporteur, they expect the appointment to be made tomorrow. The process is expected to continue without interruption.

A Hopeful Outlook

Daniel, it's still too early to say if the impasse has been completely resolved. However, we are closely monitoring the situation. The government has a backup plan in case these provisional measures risk losing their validity. There are at least seven provisional measures that need to be analyzed by June 1st, as they expire after 120 days from their publication.

To ensure their approval, one of these measures will be transformed into a project of law
