Hello there, fellow car enthusiasts! Scott here from Mobile Install Guide and today, we are finally diving into the exciting world of the Big 3 Upgrade for your Subaru. But before we get started, if you're new to this concept, head over to mobileinstallguide.com and check out the blog post where I've written all about what the Big 3 Upgrade is, its benefits, and how to install it. And if you're curious about the parts we'll be using in this install, I've got a video link in the description where we unbox and explore them. Trust me, it's going to be an electrifying experience!

The Battery Unleashed

First things first, we need to remove the battery so we can get a clear view of the work area. Cue dramatic music (just kidding, I don't actually play music while working on cars). After removing the battery, let's take a closer look at the wires that we'll be upgrading.

One of the wires we'll be working on is the chassis-to-negative battery terminal connection. Take a gander at the size of that factory wire! It's like comparing a twig to a towering cable. The upgrade we'll be adding to it is going to make a significant difference. Moving on, we've got the positive charging post of the alternator. We'll be connecting a wire from here all the way to the positive battery terminal. And last but not least, there's the engine ground. It's a bit hard to see, but we've got a wire that ties to the chassis and another end that connects to a bracket on the transmission.

Sparks Are Flying: Making the Connections

Now that we've taken a closer look at the wiring, it's time to roll up our sleeves and get down to business. The first connection we'll work on is the chassis-to-battery cable. Make sure to remove the bolt, clean up the area, and prep it for the new wire. To do this, I used a wire brush attachment for my drill. It not only removes the paint but also gives us a solid connection to bare metal. And to prevent corrosion, I applied some dielectric grease to the exposed bare metal. Safety first, my friends!

Alright, on to the next connection: the alternator charging wire. Here's where things got interesting. When I took off the factory wire from the alternator post, there was this pesky plastic ring that prevented a solid connection with the new, larger ring terminal. But fear not! I whipped out my trusty utility knife and shaved down the plastic ring until it was almost flush. Problem solved! Now we can mount the factory wire on the bottom and fit the new ring terminal on top, leaving no gap between the terminals. We don't want any sparks flying out of nowhere, do we?

Grounded for Awesomeness

With two connections successfully made, it's time to tackle the engine ground strap. This one requires a little bit of maneuvering, but with patience and determination, we can get it done. Cue epic battle music (okay, maybe not that dramatic). Remove any bolts, get the area cleaned up, and prep it for the new wire. Remember, it's all about that good, solid connection.

Bringing It All Together

With all the connections made in the car, it's time to reintroduce our battery back into the mix. Insert triumphant orchestral music (No? Okay, no music). Connect that bad boy and witness the spark of new life surging through your Subaru. It's an electrifying moment, my friends!

And just like that, we've completed the Big 3 Upgrade! But before we call it a day, I still have a few grounds to extend for a better fit at the battery. Just a minor finishing touch for another time. I'm pretty beat from all the time spent recording this, so if you wouldn't mind, do me a huge favor and smash that like button! Leave me a comment down below to let me know how your Big 3 Upgrade went, and I'll catch you in the next thrilling installment. Stay charged and drive on, my fellow Subaru warriors!
