Welcome, sporting fans! Today, I am thrilled to share with you all the exciting ways that Sporting Kansas City is building a more sustainable future for the soccer capital of America. Let's dive right in and explore some of the new green initiatives happening at Children's Mercy Park.

Green Initiatives at Children's Mercy Park

Ahead of the 2023 season, Sporting Kansas City has partnered with Hudumaki, a sustainable food packaging company, to kick off a five-year collaboration. The ultimate goal of this partnership is to make Children's Mercy Park a zero-waste facility by 2027. How are they planning to achieve this? Well, it all starts with the integration of compostable and recyclable products in all premium spaces.

By using packaging that is both compostable and recyclable, Sporting Kansas City aims to enhance both the fan experience and the environment. This initiative is a testament to their commitment to sustainability and their desire to create a greener future for soccer enthusiasts.

Recycle Your Game Campaign

Another fantastic initiative taking place through the Victory Project is the ongoing "Recycle Your Game" campaign. This campaign encourages fans to recycle their gently used soccer equipment, which will then be donated to youth and underserved communities. The goal is to provide these communities with the gear they need to enjoy the beautiful game.

Sporting Kansas City understands that playing soccer can sometimes be expensive, especially for kids who quickly outgrow their cleats or wear down their soccer balls. Through the Recycle Your Game campaign, they aim to bridge this gap by allowing people with resources to donate their soccer equipment to families who want to keep their kids active and engaged in the sport.

To make it even more convenient for fans to participate, a donation bin will be set up outside Children's Mercy Park on Saturday, April 29th, during Sporting's game against Montreal. Additionally, another donation opportunity will be available at the new Central Bank store complex on Saturday, May 27th, during the Sporting KC 5v5 Fest. For more information, visit victorykc.org.

MLS Greener Goals Week of Service

We are currently in the midst of the sixth annual MLS Greener Goals Week of Service, and Sporting Kansas City's associates are actively involved in making a positive impact. This year, they have partnered with Kansas City Community Gardens to plant trees outside the Rogoku Soccer Academy in Swope Park on Earth Day.

This day of service in the local community holds a special place in Sporting Kansas City's sustainability efforts. It showcases their dedication not only to the sport of soccer but also to taking care of each other and ensuring the well-being of the community.

Sustainability Night and Adidas One Planet Jerseys

On Sustainability Night, which falls on Saturday, April 29th, when Sporting KC takes on CF Montreal at Children's Mercy Park, fans are encouraged to practice sustainability in various ways. This includes carpooling to the stadium, ensuring lights are turned off at home, and more. It's an opportunity for fans to actively contribute to the green movement and make a difference.

During Match Day nine, teams across the league, including Sporting Kansas City, will wear their Adidas One Planet jerseys. These jerseys are made from recycled materials, including recovered plastic. Sporting KC fans can even purchase these sustainable kits on Sustainability Night, further supporting the club's commitment to a greener future.

Thank you for joining me on this journey to keep it green here in the soccer capital of America. Sporting Kansas City's dedication to sustainability is truly commendable, and together, we can create a more sustainable future for the beautiful game we all love.
