Zone One Trails: A Pleasant Surprise

Hey there, fellow riders! So, I know this might sound a bit confusing, given my recent ordeal, but guess what? I'm back on the trail! In a couple of days, I'll be releasing a video showing how I managed to get my trusty sled up and running again. I've already taken it out for one spin, and things seem to be in good shape. Fingers crossed that I make it home tonight! But before that, I wanted to venture out and check on the state of the trails in Zone One. This will give you a heads up in case you're wondering if it's worth squeezing in one last ride before the season ends.

Now, I must say, without any hesitation, that these trails are worth it, my friends! Trust me, I've seen my fair share of trails in March, and considering all the rain and warm weather we've had, they should be in much worse shape. But boy, was I pleasantly surprised! The weather today reached a balmy 42 degrees, with the sun shining all day. Roofs were dripping water, and puddles were forming, but these trails? They are simply incredible!

A Trail Worth Riding: Zone One and Zone Two

You might be skeptical, so let me assure you that Zone One and Zone Two are in excellent condition. I mean, just take a look! I know it might be a bit difficult to see in the video, but trust me, these trails are a sight to behold. I recently installed some new auxiliary light bulbs, the brightest LED's available at the time, and I must say, they're performing quite impressively. With the low beam, high beam, and my little light bar beneath the headlight, I have all the light I need to navigate these awesome trails.

Steer Clear of the Gravel Road

Now, let's talk about the not-so-fun parts. If you're planning on heading out, make sure to avoid any trails that have you running on a road. Especially, stay away from the road leading out of Hatley heading north. Believe me, you don't want to end up on that solid gravel road with steep banks on one side and a drop on the other. It's a recipe for disaster. Instead, plan your route wisely, ensuring that you stay on good woodland trails.

Adventure Awaits: Woodland Trails and Scenic Fields

Speaking of woodland trails, let me just say that even the field I started on was in remarkable shape. We had a significant dumping of snow recently, and despite the rain, much of it has packed down nicely. However, do keep an eye out for open patches of water. There have been a few water crossings in my previous video, which were just big puddles and swamps. But don't worry too much about those. The real concern lies in the little swampy areas. They tend to fill up with water, so unless you've got some special skills to skip across them, it's best to avoid them altogether.

Ice and Dirt: The Perfect Combination

Here's a friendly piece of advice: be cautious on the corners, my friends. I've spotted quite a few icy patches, especially on the lower side. And let's not forget the ever-present road crossings. Don't worry, they're not as bad as they might seem. As soon as you get off the road and onto the trail, it's like stepping into a winter wonderland. The snow here feels like it belongs in January or February, it's that good. So, gear up, my friends, and get out here while you can!

Wrapping Up: A Season to Remember

Well, folks, it's almost time to bid farewell to this season. But before we do, I just want to say how much I've enjoyed being out on the trails this year. Sure, I had a few setbacks with my sled being down for a couple of weeks, but it was totally worth it. This sled is an absolute blast! And if I'm telling you to avoid trails with big patches running alongside the road, you know I mean business. But guess what I just spotted? A dirt mobile, cruising along as if it's the most natural thing in the world. The groomers have done an amazing job, and I want to extend my gratitude to everyone who makes these trails possible.

So, my fellow riders, take this opportunity to make the most of what's left of the season. Ride with joy, stay safe, and stay swanky, my friends. Whether I see you next year or you decide to stick around for some motorcycle or four-wheeler action, know that I appreciate each and every one of you. Until next time, take care!
