U.S. Border Patrol officials tell us there are approximately 22,000 migrants in that region just waiting to cross into the United States. In the darkness, we could see barbed wire. We could see migrants' clothing hanging and the dim light from migrant cell phones as they made the final leg of the journey into the United States.

The situation at the border is dire. GOP lawmakers that I spoke with at the border last night say that the Biden administration is inviting a humanitarian crisis to our doorstep. The concern here in Brownsville, Texas is certainly Umana Terry and behind me, Vincey Fort Monument where the processing happens here. Property is sorted. Migrants are fingerprinted. They are then brought to central processing facilities. After screening for asylum concerns, they are brought to the bus station where they are dropped off with food, a little bit of legal guidance, and not much else.

The major challenges making sure that we do have space where we can bring them in, help them, and take care of them so they can contact the families and their families can make arrangements for them to travel to be with them.
