Hey, what's up guys? Welcome back to another exciting video on Battlefield 2042. Today, we're diving into the details of the game's next update, known as Update 420 or 4.2.0 (and yes, they really did announce it on 420, not-so-subtle, DICE). This update brings in some long-awaited changes, such as the discarded map rework, as well as some much-deserved nerfs to those annoying vehicles that have been plaguing the game.

But before we jump into all that, I want to remind you that I am currently playing in a 20,000-tournament as you watch this video. So, if you want to catch all the action, make sure to follow my Twitch channel. The last tournament finals went down to a best-of-10 grand finale on the 10th map, and let me tell you, it was intense. The Discarded Map Rework - Is It Worth It?

One of the major highlights of this update is the discarded map rework. Now, if you're expecting a complete overhaul of the map, you might be disappointed. The previous map rework for Manifest didn't really change much, and it seems like the discarded rework might follow a similar path.

Adding crushed cars, sandbags, and assorted crates around the map may not do much to fix the underlying issues with the map. It feels like a missed opportunity for DICE to focus on creating a completely new map instead. But hey, it's DICE, and sometimes you just have to roll with it.

Collection and Customization Improvements

In the patch notes, we also see some much-needed improvements in the collection and customization department. You can finally remove attachments from the plus menu. Previously, you could only replace attachments, but now you have the freedom to remove them as well.

Additionally, DICE has worked on increasing the legibility and improving the overall movement and swapping of attachments in the plus menu. These changes may seem small, but they make a big difference in enhancing the overall customization experience.

End of Round Improvements and Quality of Life

This update also brings some end-of-round improvements and quality of life changes. They have introduced a new squad performance screen called the personal best screen. This screen reflects if you have broken any records on your own account. So, if you manage to beat your kill record or set a new high in damage dealt, this screen will celebrate your achievement.

Furthermore, the end-of-round screen now allows you to skip directly to the main menu without leaving the automatic matchmaking. This saves time and keeps the momentum going. And in round-based game modes, DICE has finally enabled switching sides. It's the little things that make a big difference.

Uniform Soldier Aiming and General Gameplay

In a surprising move, DICE has changed the default setting for uniform soldier aiming. Traditionally, it was set to off in Battlefield games, but for Battlefield 2042, it will now be on by default. They found that enabling uniform soldier aiming improved players' overall aim, contradicting their initial assumption. If you're not a fan of this setting, you can always turn it off in the game options.

Moving on to gameplay improvements, the doors in the game have finally received some much-needed attention. Previously, the doors were quite annoying to interact with, but now they will automatically open when you get close to them. No more awkwardly holding the interact button to open doors - it's a small change but a welcome one. Finally, we can say goodbye to door frustration!

Additionally, soldiers will now be automatically spotted on the minimap for a short period after firing or throwing specific items like smoke grenades and explosive launchers. However, it's a bit perplexing that smoking your enemies can also lead to being spotted. Come on, DICE, let us enjoy our smoke breaks without giving away our position!

Weapon Adjustments and Vehicle Nerfs

In the weapons section, DICE has addressed some issues with reloads when placing gadgets and then entering/exiting vehicles. This fix saves players from getting caught in a reload loop and dying as a result. Thank the gaming gods for this one!

Furthermore, they have made adjustments to weapon attachments, fixing an issue with the MTAR 21 suppressor and the PP29 extended barrel. The MTAR 21 suppressor will no longer deal more damage than the default suppressor (only DICE could achieve such madness). And the PP29 extended barrel will no longer provide all the benefits without any downsides. Goodbye, long PP meta, you will be missed!

Finally, let's talk about those much-needed vehicle nerfs. Heavy projectiles, such as the mpat shell and Tow missile, will now deal increased damage to transport vehicles. This change ensures that those pesky players parking jeeps backwards on hillsides won't escape as easily.

In addition, radar missiles will now properly ignore targets below radar. And the not-so-beloved super hind and Condor vehicles will take 20% and 10% more damage, respectively. While these nerfs may not hit the mark for some players who believe a complete rework is needed for the transport vehicle category, it's a step in the right direction.

Conclusion

And there you have it, all the juicy details of the Battlefield 2042 Update 420. From the discarded map rework to much-needed quality-of-life changes and gameplay improvements, this update brings a mix of excitement and relief to players.

Whether you're a fan of the new default setting for uniform soldier aiming or mourning the end of the long PP meta, this update brings both expected and unexpected changes to the table. DICE continues to fine-tune the battlefield, albeit with some unconventional choices.

So, gear up, prepare for battle, and dive into the updated experience of Battlefield 2042. And as always, keep your eyes peeled for future updates and changes because with DICE, you never know what surprises are in store.
